Mikato Japanese Steak House
and Sushi Bar

If you would like to try Japanese food, Mikato Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar is a great place to enjoy an evening meal with your family. They offer a variety of meat and seafood entrées prepared either hibachi or teriyaki style. We really like that the meals all include soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, fried rice, entrée, vegetables and dessert.

Each table seats 8-10 people around a cooking surface. If you are with a small group, you may enjoy the company of another small group at your table. We enjoyed dinner with a local family who were of the opinion that Mikato is the best of the three Japanese restaurants in the area.

After your soup and salad, you will enjoy watching your chef make a show of preparing your meal. Catching shrimp tails in his hat or pocket, flipping rice bowls and the onion volcano are a few of the memorable parts of the show. After dinner enjoy a light dessert of ice cream with a fortune cookie.

Mikato is located on Front Beach Road west of Hathaway Bridge. It is right across the street from Casa De Fogo, a Brazilian restaurant. Other places to try Japanese food in the area are Mori and Kobe. They are both located on 23rd Street in Panama City. Also on 23rd Street is Crasy Buffet, an Oriental buffet with a Sushi Bar. Hana Japan in Pier Park is an order at the counter type of restaurant offering both made to order stir fried meals and ready made sushi.
