Panama City Airport...Pros and Cons

Panama City Airport, is a great option when flying to Panama City Beach. It is conveniently located in Bay County less than 10 miles from the beach and about 25 minutes from Panama City Beach. Once there, transportation options include several rental car agencies right on site. It is also serviced by the Bay Town Trolley and various taxi and limousine companies. Since it is small, it is easy to navigate your way around without getting lost. The runways have been built and there is a new airport coming to Panama City Beach! It is located on Route 388 about 3 miles east of Route 79. It is only about 10 minutes from the beach and is expected to open in a year or so. If you search for flights online, the airport code is PFN. Once you’ve searched for flights to PFN, we recommend changing your search to compare surrounding airports. Depending where you are coming from, you could find substantial savings. Valparaiso Ft. Walton Beach (VPS) is about 50 miles away. Pensacola Regional (PNS) and Tallahassee Municipal (TLH) are both under 90 miles. Of the alternatives we have personally used Ft. Walton. For those of you who are wondering, Orlando often has great rates, but it is 375 miles away. The airport is serviced by Delta (Delta Connection), Northwest and US Airways. Unless you are coming from Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando or Cincinnati, you will have a connecting flight. If you are a frequent flyer with another airline, you may be able to find a cooperative flight serviced by one of these. Quick tip--when returning home, use the restrooms before going through security. There are no restrooms on the other side.
