Panama City Beach Events
Offer Something for Everyone!

There are many annual Panama City Beach events. The great facilities such as Frank Brown Park and Pier Park Amphitheater make this town an attractive event venue. And of course the mild climate, beautiful beaches, plenty of accommodations and restaurants are an added bonus.

There is such a great variety of events available. Whether you are into softball or sports, fishing, cars or motorcycles, music, seafood or horses, you are sure to find something of interest!

Every year thousands of people make their way to Florida to participate in or attend one of the many annual Panama City Beach events. Since it is simply impossible for our family to attend them all, we'd like to share a bit about many of them and ask our readers to contribute stories of their experiences.

Triathlons

The Gulf Coast Triathlon is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run event which is held annually in the Spring. Both individuals and relay teams can compete in this USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

For those wanting a greater challenge, the Ironman Triathlon is twice as long in every event and does not allow relays. This triathlon sells out early, so if you want to participate, you'll need to plan ahead.

Biker Rallies

Panama City Beach hosts both a spring and an autumn biker rally. Thunder Beach Productions claims that these are the most biker friendly free rallies in the United States. Activities include the kick start party, custom bike show, live music concerts, Miss Thunder Beach Pageant, Kevin Kight Memorial Bike Parade, stunt shows, vendor and more.

Car Shows

Frank Brown Park hosts a couple of large car shows. The Spring Fling Car Show is the largest car and truck show in northwest Florida. It features over 45 classes of cars and trucks.

Emerald Coast Cruzin' is a fall event featuring 3000 classic cars, hotrods, muscle cars and custom cars. This event also has parades, bands, kiddie rides and games as well as craft and jewelry vendors to ensure there is entertainment for the entire family!

Softball Tournaments

With nine ball fields, Frank Brown Park naturally is a host to many softball tournaments including the USFA World Series. Beachwalk Condominiums and Horizon South are nice choices for accommodations since they are just two miles straight down the road from the park. They are also large enough that you can likely find several units to house your whole team.

Fishing Tournaments

There are numerous fishing tournaments held annually in Panama City Beach. The Bay Point Invitational Billfish Tournament is probably the most well known. It was at this tournament that a 1046 pound blue marlin was caught setting a new Florida record in 2001. The second place record is a 998.6 pounder which was caught at this tournament in 2006.

Other tournaments include Emerald Coast Redfish Club redfish tournaments, Half Hitch Tackle cobia tournament, Poorman's Shootoff (blue marlin) and Treasure Island Marina king mackerel tournament.

Music and Food Festivals

The Seabreeze Jazz Festival is held at the Pier Park Amphitheater. In addition to performances, artists will also do signings and meet fans. The festival also has a golf tournament.

The Seafood, Wine & Music Festival (formerly called the Indian Summer Seafood Festival) is held every October. It offers seafood prepared by local chefs as well as great musical entertainment, arts & crafts vendors, kids activities and more.

Schooners hosts an annual three day Lobster Festival and Tournament. Additionally they offer lobster prepared every imaginable way and a Sand Sculpting Contest right on the beach.

More Panama City Beach Events

The Gulf Coast Charity Horse Show is held at Frank Brown Park for four days in April.

Meltdown is a Christian retreat designed for 6th-12th grade students held in January at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. It is a non-profit event sponsored by local churches in the northwest Florida/southwest Alabama area.

Magic City Boppers has an annual Beach Hang Out Weekend where you can bop, swing or jitterbug all day long.
