Charter a fishing boat
If you have a couple of fishing poles the Dan Russell Pier also know as the City Pier is an inexpensive Panama City Beach fishing option. The County Pier also known as the M.B. Miller Pier is under construction and expected to be completed in 2010.
Both charge a small fee which allows you access to the pier as well as licensing for the day to use 2 rods plus a bait rod. If you leave the pier, don't forget to get your hand stamped for re-entry.
Pier fishing can also be done at St. Andrews Park. You will need to pay the small daily admission to the park and have a fishing license.
If you rent a home on the Grand Lagoon you may have access to a private dock. You'll need a fishing license, but you can't beat this for peace and quiet.
We haven't actually tried spear fishing, but spear fishing trips are available through some of the dive boat companies.
At Captain Andersons Marina you can purchase tickets to go on a party boat fishing trip. This is nice since it is more affordable than a charter boat and yet still includes staff to help you and all the equipment and bait. It does not require a license as the boat has its own license.
Charter boats can be hired for as little as 4 hours or even as much as overnight for a memorable Panama City Beach fishing trip. If you only have a couple of people, some captains will try to match you up with others so you can split the cost of the charter.
Depending on what type of fish you wish to catch and what is in season you can choose trolling or bottom fishing.
You also have the expertise and experience of your captain and deck hands who aim to make your trip a success. We've also spotted dolphins while fishing from charter boats.
Once you've decided on your fishing venue it's time to prepare for your trip.
