All Ages Will Enjoy A Parasailing Ride

Parasailing

Parasailing is also known as parascending. It is an activity that requires no experience and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Adventures At Sea advertises that they are handicap accessible. If you are leaving from the beach rather than a marina, you will likely get a banana boat ride out to the main boat.

You take off smoothly from the platform of the boat and are towed behind while attached to a special type of parachute. Up, up you go… there is no better way to get such a great view of the gulf and the beaches. It is surprising how smooth and peaceful a ride it is. All too soon, you are reeled in and land gently back on the deck of the boat.

ParasailingEveryone in our family has tried it either here or in Hawaii and agrees that it is a great, not to be missed, experience. However, since it is so tame, it is not something any of us would do often.

There are several companies on the beach offering single or tandem rides. We recommend tandem because it’s a lot more fun to have someone to talk to and share the experience with. Panama City Parasail has the biggest chutes on the beach able to take as many as 4 people at a time.

Getting Dipped while ParasailingFirst, you will need to decide how long a ride you want. You can usually choose a trip from 600 to 1200 feet. The farther you go out from the boat, the longer the parasailing ride is. I really can’t remember how far we went out, but I believe most of the rides last from about five to fifteen minutes.

You will also have the choice of being dipped in the water or staying dry. We found it very refreshing to dangle our feet in the water. Let the captain know if you want to stay dry, dip your feet in or get completely drenched.

ParasailingWhen we were in Hawaii, the crew also took digital pictures of us right from the boat. While we have not seen that option in Panama City Beach, if you go with a few friends, you’ll be able to photograph each other. Take a look at some of our photos and I think you’ll agree that the pictures taken from the boat are the best.
