Swim With Dolphins Choose from Two Programs at Gulf World
The Swim with Dolphins and Trainer for a Day programs at Gulf World Marine Park are both great choices for special kids activities during your vacation. If you plan to participate in either of these programs, be sure to make your reservations early since the number of participants is limited. Season pass holders can get substantial discounts on these programs in the off season.
Swim with Dolphins Program
This program is 75-90 minutes long. It has both an educational session and an in the water with the dolphins session. It is offered to participants as young as 5, but those under 48” tall must be accompanied by a paying adult. Unlike programs in the Gulf, at Gulf World you are guaranteed to be with a dolphin.

My daughter and I participated in this program when she was 9. We got to see some of the things they trained the dolphins to do, not only for entertainment, but to facilitate medical check ups. We had fun interacting with the dolphins and learning about the signals the trainers use with them. We got to experience a dolphin handshake and a dolphin kiss. In the end we got to hold on for a dorsal fin ride around the tank.
Most of the in the water time was in waist deep water. I really liked that they had life vests available. I chose to use one for the deep water parts because I am not a strong swimmer. I’m glad I did because it allowed me to focus on enjoying the moment rather than the depth of the water.

Trainer For a Day Program
For your animal lover age 12 and up Trainer for a Day would be a special day full of amazing memories including a stage appearance in the dolphin show! This 6 hour program gives you a chance to shadow the Gulf World trainers for a day. You’ll get a wonderful behind the scenes experience preparing food for the animals and assisting in training sessions. This program also includes a picture of you during your time in the water with the dolphins. Finally, you'll get to bring your trainer for a day t-shirt home as a souvenir.
