Waterfront Dining Offers Fabulous Views
Waterfront dining options abound in Panama City Beach, Florida. From casual beach clubs to fine dining, the views are terrific. Don’t forget your camera to capture some awesome sunsets.
The Grand Lagoon offers three places to eat (and a gift shop) in the Treasure Ship on Thomas Drive. If your kids like pirates this is the place to take them to explore. Another restaurant on the marina is Captain Andersons. It is an upscale family restaurant that encourages you to dine early and watch the fishing fleets unload their catch. If you want fabulous views of sunsets and perhaps a silhouette of a boat or birds to add interest to your pictures, Uncle Ernie's Bayfront Grill & Brew House is the place to go. It is located on St Andrew Bay in Panama City by the marina. The restaurant is in a late 1800's historic house. They offer salads and sandwiches as well as steaks and seafood.
If overlooking the Gulf of Mexico is your dining preference, Breakers on Front Beach Road is a good choice fine dining. This award winning restaurant offers steaks, prime rib and seafood as well as live entertainment. They also accept reservations. Right next door is Harpoon Harry's, a café and tiki bar with a DJ and live music.
If you’d like a more casual sports bar or beach club, Sharkeys is located on Front Beach Road. It is very notable for its shark blasting through above the main entrance. Pineapple Willy’s is a bar and grill type restaurant right on Thomas Drive. The dining area is located on a long covered pier extending across the sand nearly to the water. The red patio furniture and the tin buckets holding a roll of paper towels and menus give this restaurant a bright and casual feel. Some of their offerings include sandwiches, shrimp and chicken baskets and salads. The Caribbean Salad featuring pineapple, grilled chicken and macadamia nuts is delicious. They also have AL E. Gator (breaded alligator tail) for the adventurous. Pineapple Willys also gets my vote for most fun and memorable name!
Schooners which calls itself the last local beach club is a good place for live music. As a beach club, very casual attire is acceptable. The wide open style of this older building gives you great views of the beach. They are known for their grouper basket, so we tried it with grilled fish and it was excellent. They also offer sandwiches, chicken fingers, salads and their home made onion rings. Schooners also hosts an annual Lobsterfest and Sand Sculpting Contest in September. Yet another waterfront dining option is Pompanos. It is a nice lakeside restaurant that has been in the area for over 50 years. They offer a wide variety of fish and seafood as well as steaks and sushi.
